(Bryndhildr's ride to Hell), Brynhildr on her journey to Hell meets a giantess.

(Giant or ettin) are a mythological race that live in Jötunheimr, one of the nine worlds of Norse cosmology

who blames her for an immoral livelihood. Brynhildr responds to her accusations with

this poem:

Ever with grief and all too long Are men and women born in the world; But yet we shall live our lives together, Sigurth and I.
